The Estrela Basilica, also known as Royal Basilica and Convent of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Convent of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Estrela Basilica and Convent, Lapa Parish Church or Church of Our Lady of Lapa, is a Catholic temple and former convent of Carmelite nuns located in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.
This vast church, topped by a dome, stands atop a hill in the western part of the city, being one of the landmarks of the Lapa area (Parish of Our Lady of Lapa to Estrela, or simply Lapa Parish). It is located in front of the Estrela Garden, in the Estrela parish.
The Estrela Basilica has been classified as a National Monument since 1907.
